The bridge has existed since 1853 and is now only open to cars, not trucks. A new bridge is being discussed for the county road, and this historic structure would then be preserved as a pedestrian and cycle path.
Edit: Since 2022, no cars are allowed over it – only pedestrians and cyclists.
Edit: Since 2025, it has also been completely closed (no passage for cyclists and pedestrians!) until the new car bridge is completed and a new cycle path leads over it.
