The tram Lisbon, Portuguese Eléctricos de Lisboa, is since 1873 existing and operated since 1901 electric tram network of the Portuguese capital Lisbon. As forerunner of today's streetcar, on November 17, 1873, a normal
lane horse train in operation. However, the opening credits were mostly taken by mules. With routes to the suburbs Algés and Lumiar, she has already opened up a large part of the city. However, she remained locked the hilly parts of the old town, especially Alfama and Lapa. To open up the steeper parts of the city began in 1888 initially with the construction of three funicular railways, from 1898, the compounds were gradually rebuilt to regular electrical operation. After numerous decommissioning and reduction measures today still operate five lines, which are designated with a number and the abbreviation "E". The additional letter "E" is derived from Carro eléctrico, Portuguese for electric tram. The 900-millimeter tram is particularly popular with tourists due to its partially historic vehicle park and attractive route. A special experience is a ride on the E28 line, with original 1930s cars driving past the city's main attractions and through the narrow streets of Alfama.
