This section of the Seine bank has little to offer other than the view of the Quai des Grands-Augustins opposite. In the past, numerous goldsmiths and jewelers' shops were located here; number 36 is now the headquarters of the criminal police. This and the Palace of Justice moved to the Parisian district of Les Batignolles in 2017. The riverside road leads to the Pont St-Michel, which was built in its current form in 1857.

It is particularly famous for having been the headquarters of the Paris Police Prefecture, specifically the criminal squad, for over a century, in the famous building at 36 Quai des Orfèvres.
