St. James the Elder – Kollersried
The St. Jacob's Church, a branch church of Hemau, emerged from a Romanesque chapel around 1200. Since it was “so devastated in 1625 that it looked more like a pigsty than a place of worship,” the Hofmarklord of Kollersried and Laufenthal, Mr. Simon von Labrique, restored it a year later. Around 1660 it was rebuilt and enlarged by Marquard Primus von Labrique, a connection was created with the church that was later added, so that the original chapel now represents the presbytery of the current church.
The facade tower in the west was only added in 1900; its octagonal top floor houses the tower clock and the belfry, with a bell dome sitting on top.
The interior of the nave is covered with a flat ceiling. The high altar from the end of the 17th century shows a statue of a crescent moon Madonna, which is framed by figures of St. James (left) and St. Wendelin (right)
The church also contains the gravestones of Simon von Labrique, who died in 1656, at Kollersried, Laufenthal, Beilstein, Bergstetten and Burkheim, Baroness Anna von Dalem, who died in 1717, and Anna von Pettenkofer, who was buried in 1794.
