The Pettemerduinen is a long, narrow strip of dunes between the Zwanenwater and the robust dike of the Hondsbossche Zeewering, in the head of North Holland. You can walk sheltered in the woods, look far away from the high dune tops or blow out on the beach.

The dune tops are pristine white and in the wet dune valleys orchids bloom in dozens of shades of pink and purple. In the east lies the multi-coloured polder with bulb fields and on the other side of the dune the blue North Sea with the constant sound of the surf.

Variety is the main theme here: woods, heathlands, dune lakes and of course the beach. From the high dune tops you can see the polder and the sea at your feet at the same time. You share the area with birds, rabbits, foxes, stoats and the black Galloway cattle that keep the vegetation in the dunes short.
