The Slumbering Woman from 1910 is modeled from shell limestone by the sculptor Richard Engelmann, master of the old school and professor of sculpture at the Weimar Bauhaus. He created several large-scale female nudes. The motif of the resting woman appears several times in his works, including the slumbering woman in Schrevenpark, half sitting and half lying relaxed in her armchair.
