The Ayous refuge is open from the end of May to the beginning of October. For the precise dates, which change from one year to the next, you can go to the refuge website: refuge-ayous.fr. You will find lots of other information there and can book your night. Also note that it is possible to bivouac around the refuge.

Very worthwhile refuge. Camping possibility for the night down at Lac Gentau. From here it is worth leaving the GR10 and walking towards Refuge Pombie via Lac Casterau. (HRP variant). Mobile phone charging was sometimes possible in the refuge. 00 33 (0) 5 59 05 37 00

Attention. The horses here like to nibble on your tent and sometimes dare to put a paw in your tent canvas. Our tent is completely broken. Never experienced anywhere else. Maybe because of the (too) large number of tents around the lake?

The Ayous refuge (PNP) is a beautiful refuge at 1980 m in the Ossau Valley, located in the Pyrenees National Park, it is accessible from Lake Bious-Artigue at 1422 m. You will have to climb the 600m slope of the GR10 trail to access the refuge and the row of lakes.
