The Porta del Popolo, also known as the "People's Portal", is a historic city gate in Rome, located in the north of the city. This impressive gate is one of the most famous entrance gates to the Eternal City and has a rich history dating back to ancient times.

Built in the 16th century by order of Pope Sixtus IV, the Porta del Popolo is an impressive example of Renaissance architecture. The gate consists of a central arch and two side passages flanked by majestic Corinthian columns. Above the archway is a sculpture of the Madonna and two saints, created by Gian Lorenzo Bernini.

Porta del Popolo is a city gate of the Aurelian Wall in Rome, marking the border between Piazza del Popolo and Piazzale Flaminio. The gate was originally called Porta Flaminia because the Via Flaminia, an important road to the north, passed through it. The current gate was built in the 16th century by Nanni di Baccio Bigio, according to a design by Michelangelo, on behalf of Pope Pius IV. The gate has a concave facade with three portals, decorated with marble reliefs and lashes. The central dome has a spiral lantern and a flaming crown.

The gate is one of the most impressive and historic entrances to the city of Rome, welcoming pilgrims, travelers and monarchs for centuries.
