Today's church was built in 1821 on the basis of a much older predecessor building. A lot of the work was done in-house, since one could not actually afford a church.

The church is open and may be visited. Inside there is also a small museum with old bibles.
A painting on the gallery is also worth mentioning. This shows a former soldier from Niederlistingen who went to war against Napoleon. His fate is immortalized here because he went missing in the war but then returned. However, his fiancée at the time was already promised to someone else. Their love was of course unbroken and so her parents feared that she might commit adultery. So they killed the returning soldier.
Unfortunately, the full story of his fate cannot be read on site, but can be found on an information board on the Escheberg on the Märchenlandweg.

There is also an official height measuring point at the church, according to which it is at exactly 245.4 m.
