Further back in the field are two of these original squared timber constructions, which take up the visual axis of the former main street from Corvey and lead to this point on the banks of the Weser. In medieval times, a city-owned bridge crossed the Weser here, which infuriated the people of Paderborn. Because for a long time they were the only ones far and wide with a Weser bridge, which of course brought with it proper bridge tolls, traffic and trade. This was now successfully copied by the Corveyern and therefore later ground by the troops of the Paderborn prince bishop together with the entire city. Only the church remained untouched at that time.
