The trabocco or travocco is an imposing construction made of Aleppo pine wood typical of the areas of the middle Adriatic. It is malleable and capable of withstanding the saltiness and the strong gusts of the mistral that lash the Adriatic. Typically, the overflow consists of a platform jutting out over the sea anchored to the rock by large trunks, from which two or more long arms, called "antennas", extend, suspended a few meters from the water, which support an enormous mesh narrow: the "balance".

Costa dei Trabocchi is an interesting stretch of coast, as the typical sandy beaches of the Adriatic coast of Italy in the coastal area of the Gargano (Puglia) passed. On the Costa Trabocchi, the Molise region also has a small share, which otherwise spread in the hinterland and until the late nineties was part of the Abruzzo region.
