The Boyer Tower was built in the 13th century. Shortly thereafter, it was equipped with a comprehensive defense system and almost resembled a small castle. Mr. Boyer bought it at auction in the 19th century. He wanted to use the stones to build other buildings. Before he could implement his plan, the city bought the tower back from him, although it kept its name! The Esplanade is a very nice playground for children.
The Boyer Tower is an important monument: the thickness of the wall is 3.10 m at the base and 2.60 m at the top, at a height of 38 m!
