The city turns the Rozemaai district, on the edge of Ekeren and Antwerp, into a pleasant neighborhood for young and old. Since 2019, the district has a new, accessible park in which the main role is reserved for the Donkse stream. Today we continue to work on the expansion of the park. At the end of 2024, the second and last part of the landscape park will rise here and the stream will be extended to the Ekerse Steenweg.
Why this project?
The Rozemaai district must be a place where young and old feel good and where it is pleasant to live. That is why the city has created the Rozemaaipark with space for the Donkse stream. After all, it has an important ecological function.
With the realization of the last part of the park, a connection will also be made with the original stream in the future, so that we can once again speak of a flowing stream system.
There will be a square in the center of the park. This will connect the two parts of the district. The square will become a place for meeting, connecting and staying.
Play zones and recreational areas are also provided in the park for the residents and visitors of the Rozemaai district.
