Queen Isabella the Catholic ordered the construction of the Cathedral of Granada in 1505, shortly after the taking of the city, and chose for its location the place where the Royal Mosque of the Alhambra was located. However, the scope of the project led to a search for a larger site and it was moved to the center of Granada, where the Great Mosque was located.
The Metropolitan Cathedral Basilica of the Incarnation is an impressive Catholic temple in the Spanish city of Granada. It is the seat of the local archdiocese and one of the masterpieces of the Spanish Renaissance. The cathedral is dedicated to the mystery of the Incarnation of the Lord.
