In ancient Side there were two colonnaded streets that led from the city gate to the sea. One leads from the main gate in a southerly direction to the sea, the other, the main axis, leads west and then with a few changes of direction to the large square between the temples by the sea. Cars still drive along part of this street as far as behind the theater. Both streets were lined with colonnades on the sides and paved with marble.

A walk a little off the road is worth it. Very nice excavation site.
