The non-profit homestead cooperative Dresden-Reick e. GmbH. with the aim of constructing inexpensive residential buildings.
As a result of this cooperative, in addition to buildings with similar objectives elsewhere, a residential area in Dresden-Reick was created in mixed construction (multi-storey perimeter block development, terraced houses).
The most important construction activities by the Heimstättengenossenschaft took place here until the first half of the 1930s.
At the beginning of the first work and in economically difficult times, a test building was erected in adobe around 1920. Although this project did not provide any economic impetus, it did generate general attention that would benefit the overall project in the future. In the years between 1925 and 1928 the main building activities were carried out. In accordance with the statutes, the members of the cooperative could purchase their house from the homestead cooperative at cost price. The contract provided for the possibility of further independent design of the property, which resulted in later changes in the settlement.
This house is the first house of the cooperative and was built of mud.
On the 13th/14th In February 1945, Anglo-American bombers completely destroyed 88 apartments, killing 28 cooperative members.
