    The oldest preserved station in the province of Limburg can be found in As. After the closure of the coal mines there was no future. In 2014 the last local train drove to football club KRC Genk.

      A must see for any enthusiast.
      The municipality of As, with the support of the cultural council of As and i.s.m. VZW Killerbee and Spray & Play 4 train sets painted as a whole train. Fifteen professional Street Art and graffiti artists took care of this painting. During a graffiti jam, these train sets were transformed into colorful eye-catchers of the station site. This is the very first time that a jam was organized on trains in Flanders.

      The artists are a mix of Belgian and Dutch top graffiti artists. They are both crews and individual artists, so each piece of the train was entrusted to a different artist or crew.
      The artists are: 2 Dirty, B-art, Tuzq, Beireh , Eyes-B, Eres, KBTR, K. Shit
      Joachim, Lasplak, OBG (Smok & Bird),
      Aerosol Kings and SPA (Spray Paint Artits)

        For years, As Station played a central role in the coal mining in this region, because from here the many miners and coal wagons left for the nearby mines in Eisden, Waterschei and Winterslag. Now you will find the narrowest visitor reception in the National Park in a restored train.

        The former As station is now a cozy café where you can still breathe in the atmosphere of yesteryear. The platform serves as a terrace.

          The only remaining and fully equipped station of the railway company "Hasselt-Maaseik" built in 1874; according to a sober architectural concept that was put forward by the aforementioned company, with characteristics that are in line with the utilitarian architecture that was common in the second half of the nineteenth century. This is an example of a rural station site that clearly shows the functional and spatial relationships that exist between the various elements of such a station site.

            Since Katrien's visit, the municipality of As has had six trains repainted with the support of the Flemish government and in collaboration with SAGA. During a graffiti jam, twenty professional street art and graffiti artists transformed these trains into colorful eye-catchers on the station site. The graffiti trains will be the start of a graffiti and street art walk 'Off the Tracks' that will officially open in the fall of 2024. The artists are a mix of top Belgian and Dutch graffiti artists. Each part of the train was expertly (spray)painted by one or more artists. The name of the project has also been changed to 'The Yard 2.0'.

                  The important station of As on the historic coal track that connected the Limburg mines with As and from there was extended to Maaseik. The entire site is beautifully developed around the mining activities and the track. With a lookout tower based on the design of the test drilling tower for coal by André Dumont. It offers a beautiful view of the Limburg slag heap landscape.
                  The graffiti-sprayed trains around the beautifully developed tourist office and the old station itself, now a bicycle café with a beautiful terrAS, complete the whole. Beautiful.
