January 1, 2023 - The statue was erected in 1912 to commemorate the 160th anniversary of the Military Academy. It is 10 meters high and stands on the southern edge of Theresienplatz.
The statue itself is 3.25 meters high, cast from gun bronze, and depicts the monarch in marshal's uniform, holding a plumed general's hat. The base is made of Bohemian granite. The statue is surrounded by four columns. On top of the columns is an architrave made of karst marble, topped by an iron double-headed eagle. The architrave bears the emperor's motto: VIRIBUS UNITIS

Erected in 1912, at the end of the First World War a wooden building was built over it and only removed again in 1934.
