The Pottmühle (Petshagen windmill, mill route no. 9) is visible from afar and characterizes the landscape on the edge of the high bank above the Weser floodplain. The Galerie-Holländer, built in 1938 as the last windmill in the district, with its 18 meter high, slightly conical quarry stone tower, replaced a royal mill from 1745 that was only half as high. The name "Pottmühle" became generally accepted in the course of the 19th century and has been used ever since also in official documents; it is said to be due to the fact that the shape of the mill tower at that time resembled a coffee pot ("coffee pot") that was in use at the time. The mill has been owned by the Büsching family since 1883

In 1963, shortly after a blade was struck by lightning and the wind drive was paralysed, commercial milling operations were abandoned. Since then, the mill building has been used for the agricultural business of the former Pottmüller. The mill can be visited from the outside at any time; the mill site is freely accessible. I do not know whether the mill can also be visited from the inside. There have never been any grinding or baking days here, at least in the last 20 years.

Windmill with raised gallery.
This two-story gallery Dutch windmill from 1938 is a very large conical tower windmill made of brick and quarry stone masonry with a high gallery. The wings used to have blinds. The furnishings are partially preserved.
