Two-story gallery Dutchman from 1876 with sail wings and compass rose in place of a burned-down watermill. Wind drive no longer available, the equipment (shot mill, roller mills, plan sifter, etc.) driven by a turbine instead of the undershot water wheel since 1953; Operation ceased in 1998 after more than 700 years.
Lahde Monastery originally had two mills, the water mill first mentioned in 1292 - and thus over 700 years old - and a windmill that was later moved to Raderhorst.
The water mill fell victim to a fire around 1870, so that both mills disappeared within a very short time. At that time, the monastery mill was already owned by the Meyer miller family. The water mill was equipped with two Strauber wheels, one behind the other, in a common channel. From the front wheel, on the site of today's turbine, the grain mill was built and from the rear wheel - the wall breakthrough to the water wheel shaft is still visible today......
