Kaiserhain not only is the northern Entrance to the Westfalen Park komoot.de/highlight/198975 , it also has a lovely lily pond with Canada geese and benches shaded by rows of trees. The linear Stadtwäldchen park leads as a car-free green trail straight here from Downtown via Stadtgarten. To continue toward the Emscher Trail or Phoenix See without cutting through the (1.50 Euro) Westfalenpark, one can use the trail leading around the western edge of the Westfalenpark and down to the Buschmühlen entrance, where a bridge leads across the stream to join with the Emscher Trail.

Origins
The Kaiser Wilhelm Hain, the forerunner of Westfalenpark, was officially opened on June 3, 1894, as a city park for the citizens of Dortmund.
It formed the nucleus of the first of three Federal Garden Shows in 1959. Westfalenpark was named after this important horticultural exhibition.
Two further garden shows followed in 1969 and 1991, which continue to shape the park's character to this day.
