The three-nave "Catedral de Nuestra Señora de la Asunción" is the dominant structure in the Plaza Juan de Salazar (Plaza de la Constitución). It was built in the mid-19th century according to the plans of the architect Alejandro Ravizza in neoclassical style instead of an adobe church from 1539 and consecrated on 27 October 1845.
Worth seeing are the wooden carved and silvered baroque main age and the old silver candelabra.
