Presidential Palace and seat of government in Asunción. The palace was commissioned by Carlo Antonio López and built between 1857 and 1867 under the direction of English architect Alonso Taylor. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palacio_de_los_López
Between Ayolas and O'Leary is the Gobierno Palace, which is modeled after the Paris Louvre. It now functions as a government palace, but was actually designed by Francisco Solano López as a residence. It is worth seeing the details, because they are very decorative.
Palacio de López serves as workplace for the President of Paraguay. It is also the seat of the government. Quite beautiful to look at from the outside and as I was there in the Christmas shoulder period the ornate Christmas tree really set it off.
