The Lion of Piraeus or the Lion of Piraeus is a marble sculpture over 3 meters high that was in the port of Piraeus until 1687, when it was kidnapped by the Doge of the Serene Republic of Venice, Francis Morozini. Due to the monument's imposing presence, the port was also called Porto Leone, which is still known by that name today.
Today this sculpture is located at the entrance to the Navastham of Venice, while in Piraeus, where the sculpture was stolen, a copy created by the sculptor Giorgos Megoulas was installed and is located at the entrance to the port, now called “Bouka”.
