Advertising columns were invented in 1854 by the Berlin printer Ernst Litfaß. Judging by its shape, this advertising column also appears to date from the 19th century. The future of these columns is often discussed. In my opinion, they should be preserved as cultural assets. In some cities, they are already being repurposed. In Nuremberg, for example, they house public toilets. In Düsseldorf, they have been converted into 5G transmission masts.
