The Belvedere, perched 17m above the ground on more than 50 concrete beams.
Until 1960, this brick building surrounding the frame with wheels constituted the "Air receipt" of the coal mining. At its level, the elevator ensured the descent of the empty wagons and the reception of the wagons full of raw coal coming from the bottom. These were automatically expelled from the elevator shaft and driven on gently sloping rails in an overhead walkway to the sorting buildings (now destroyed), where the contents of the wagon were tumbled, washed, sorted and graded. Once empty, the wagons returned via the footbridge, to the Recipe and the elevator where they fit in for the descent.
