is the last visible sign of the former castle complex. Opposite, on the Herrenberg, which is now so prominently planted with chestnut trees, there was another castle. Both castles were destroyed in the Peasants' War in 1525.

The castle rebuilt on the Schlossberg was abandoned by the Counts of Castell after the construction of the new castle in 1691 in the village and demolished in the middle of the 18th century.

The former court linden tree can still be admired between Schlossberg and Herrenberg today.

From the natural terrace below the tower there is a wonderful view of the wide Steigerwald foothills. On nice days you can see as far as the Rhön.

Once a year on the wine hiking day in Castell, always on the first weekend in September, the tower is opened and can be climbed. The view from up here over the wide countryside is an experience.
