The fountain was built between 1581 and 1588 to a design by Giacomo della Porta (1533-1602) with sculptures by the Florentine Taddeo Landini (1550-1596).
The Turtle Fountain (Italian: Fontana delle Tartarughe) is an ornamental fountain in Piazza Mattei in Rome. It was built in 1580-1588 by Giacomo della Porta and Taddeo Landini, completed in 1658/1659 by Gian Lorenzo Bernini or Andrea Sacchi and is considered a Baroque masterpiece.
