The Trinità de 'Monti staircase, a masterpiece of scenographic taste from the 18th century, was built between 1723 and 1726 by the architect Francesco de Sanctis. The staircase, built in travertine, is made up of a series of sections, 11 in total and each one made up of 12 steps, which divide, meander, meet, continuously changing direction. A series of balustrades accompanies the ramps: they interrupt the steep slope and function as a stopping point and to enjoy the landscape. The great structure, which established a connection between an area of the city with a strong French presence and the Spanish colony in the lower part, constitutes an architectural space that serves for transit, but even more as a meeting place and a pleasant stop.

The Spanish Steps in Rome take tourists up 138 steps to heaven. The sweeping flight of steps opens up a breathtaking view of the Piazza di Spagna, where the water of the Trevi Fountain splashes in the distance as if you were by the sea. The building from the 18th century leads from the Spanish embassy at the Holy See up to the spectacular church of Santa Trinità dei Monti. Stroll between heaven and earth and relax on the Italian-style stairs, day after day, people upon people. There is hardly a place where the visitor gets a better impression of the famous Dolce Vita. Centuries ago the Spanish Steps were built for a solemn ascent to the church and today you still feel solemn on the ascent.

The Spanische Treppe is a famous staircase in Rome, connecting the Piazza di Spagna with the Church of Trinità dei Monti. The staircase was built in the 18th century by order of Pope Innozenz XIII and the French King Louis XIV. The staircase has 136 steps and is decorated with flowers in spring and summer. The stairs are a popular meeting place for tourists and artists. At the foot of the stairs is the Fontana della Barcaccia, a fountain in the shape of a sinking boat, created by Pietro and Gian Lorenzo Bernini.
