The first stop is in front of the Brandberg Church. From there we continue to the right to the Gasthof Thanner, where the cultural landscape path leads past the famous Hanserhof to the Gasthof Steinerkogel (1263 m). You then hike along narrow forest paths to the hamlet of Ritzl and from there past the Schrofenmühle back to the starting point.
The starting point can be reached by bus from Mayrhofen. There are parking spaces for private vehicles in front of the Brandberg municipal office.
Brandberg is characterized by mountain agriculture like no other place in the high mountain nature park. Apart from a small village center around the church, the place consists of many individual hamlets and farms scattered on the slopes, which are surrounded by extensive steep meadows. Thanks to its south-facing location, Brandberg is extremely sunny and has a beautiful panorama that extends from the Brandberger Kolm over the Ahorn to the Vordere Grinbergspitze. The scenic beauty of Brandberg can be discovered particularly well on the cultural landscape trail. Starting at the church, this moderately difficult circular route takes around 2 hours of walking and takes you through the individual farms through the extensive local area.
