In summer and winter you can hike to this beautiful, small chapel and enjoy a wonderful view over Wartenfels and into the Kulmbacher Land.

The Traischel Chapel is idyllically located on the Traischelberg above Wartenfels on the Franconian Forest Steigla around the Gaaßleitn and offers a wonderful view of the Kulmbacher Land. A lounger invites you to linger.
The Traischel Chapel, which for many has become the symbol of Wartenfels, was built by the married couple Barbara and Johann Pfister, who emigrated to the USA at the beginning of the 20th century. In November 1930 the chapel and its altar were consecrated by the pastor Johann Frühwein. The altarpiece shows how the Blessed Mother gives St. Dominic the rosary for prayer.
A wooden cross was also erected next to the chapel, but it was soon replaced by a concrete cross because it could not withstand the weather. The weather was also the reason why the original small wooden chapel was replaced by the current stone chapel.
