    A beautiful valley that is under nature protection. Usually you walk along a relatively level path between forest and meadow and can discover the entire length of the Lauter river.

      The source pot of the small volume is very romantic. The Lauter flows past old mills, there you can see the old weirs that feed the mill streams. The louder itself flows in its unregulated bed. For children who are careful, there are elves and colorful stones to discover. A very nice way.

          A lovely valley that has been a nature reserve since 1995. The distance from the source, in the small town of Lautern, to where it flows into the Blau near Blaustein is only a few kilometers. The clear water of the Lauter is home to freshwater shrimp, snails, brown trout and bullheads. Dragonflies live in the shore area. The Wiesental offers habitats for a large variety of plants and animals, some of which are endangered or even threatened with extinction. You can hike beautifully along the valley path from Blaustein-Herrlingen to the source in Lautern and back again. Before returning, you can fortify yourself in the Lamm or Krone inns.

            The Gasthaus Krone closed in January 2020 after 40 years. The operators have retired.
            The path is very beautiful and runs almost flat along the valley. Again and again you have beautiful views and mostly walk in the shade.

              The small Lauterbachtal is worth exploring: the rock formations on the edge of the valley, the meandering Lauter with its springs, a historic power plant and a place to stop for refreshments. All of this makes for an excellent hike.

                      A beautiful valley that invites you to go on a bike ride or hike. Quite crowded on Sundays in summer, start early for quiet hikes. There is a rest stop in Lautern.

                        Hike from Herrlingen to the source via Hohenstein. However, there was little to see on the way via Hohenstein, in my opinion, down by the water in the valley it was much nicer. 🌿
