The Neo-Gothic church from 1878 was designed by the architect Pierre Cuypers. Cuypers had built a church in Halden in Norway in 1877. Norwegian influences are present in the design of the church in Nes, although the design is also largely based on Cuypers' church in Ruurlo from 1868. The single-aisled church with a ridge turret has a high roof with an overhanging eaves. The church largely consists of wooden constructions that were made in Cuypers' studio in Amsterdam and assembled in Nes. The church was expanded around 1958 with two low transepts designed by Herman van Wissen. The high altar is from 1885 and the stained glass windows from 1897. The church is a national monument. The church is located on Kardinaal De Jongweg, named after Johannes de Jong (1885-1955), who was born in Nes.

The church was completely destroyed by fire in the early morning of February 5, 2013. The parsonage and an outbuilding were preserved. The church has been rebuilt and is in use again since the end of 2016.
