The history of the small church is far in the past. Records indicate that it was probably built in 1766 by the Imperial Count Karl-Clement-Ferdinand of the choice of Teunz and his wife Eleonora. In this way, they wanted to thank St. Jacob for their son being spared from any injury during the Turkish wars. On the church's gallery is painted how the saint rides in the fray at the side of his protege.

The founders of the church, Count Carl Clement von Taufkirchen and his wife Eleonore von Taufkirchen-Kreuth, asked St. James to protect their son from injury during the Turkish Wars.
When the request was granted, they had the church built in 1766. A painting on the gallery shows the connections: In the middle is the coat of arms of von Taufkirchen. On the right you can see James at the Battle of Clavigo (844), in which he helped defeat the Moors in southern Spain. On the left you can see the saint helping the son of the church founder in the fight against the Turks in the 18th century.
