Again and again there is a beautiful view of the castle ruins, the landmark of the Leuchtenberg market that is visible from afar. However, the ruins cannot be seen from here.

The castle ruins Leuchtenberg is the most important and very well preserved castle complex of the Upper Palatinate. It was first mentioned in 1124 and served as the ancestral seat of the landgraves of Leuchtenberg. The beginning of 1714 decay was stopped in the 19th century. Even today, the former stock is clearly visible. Many interesting details, such as the Knight's Hall, have been preserved. In summer, the well-known castle festival Leuchtenberg takes place at the castle ruins as the largest open-air theater in Eastern Bavaria.
