Well, Trail is grossly over the top euphemistic for the pristine paved road. So more of a racing bike country. Since you can hardly find any 'species-appropriate' alternatives on this section, you can also come by with an MTB. The real highlight, however, are actually the rheas, which can also be observed from the trails and gravel paths in the area. - We will see how long it continues...

In the north-east of Lake Ratzeburg you could see many free-living Nandus. Unfortunately, lately they have become shy because they have become a nuisance to farmers and are no longer welcome here.
Today I could only see four in the middle of a large field - two of them were a little closer, so that I could photograph them with full telephoto out of focus. I didn't want to go any closer so as not to disturb them.
It's amazing that they could survive here in the wild for decades.
