The small village Halbmeile lies on a large, meadow-covered clearing in the middle of the mountains of the Erzgebirge. From up here you can enjoy a beautiful view of the vast landscape and the village.

Halmeil is a former settlement that used to stretch across the two sides of the Saxon-Czech state border.
The original village "Halbmeil" was built around 1546 and was founded by miners like everywhere else in the Erzgebirge. In 1582, the name "half mile" appears for the first time in the mine files. Formerly the place extended over both sides along the Saxon-Czech state border.

After the cession of the southern part of the dominion of Schwarzenberg by Duke Moritz of Saxony after 1546, this area remained with Saxony, but the exact border was not established at that time. 1548 was first mentioned in the mountain order of King Ferdinand of Bohemia a mine on the mosquito mountain. The mining was quite productive, so that there was a dispute between the rulers for this now interesting area. 1557 to 1558 was finally the final demarcation, with a straight line connecting the sources of the Mückenbach and the Great local creek and the mouth of the Breitenbach was defined as a new borderline. This cut the mining settlement on Mückenberg in a Bohemian and a Saxon part.

1582 was the first time the term "uf the half mile", probably because the place is about half a Saxon mile (about 4.5 km) from Breitenbrunn away.

The settlement Halbmeil (Milov) on the Czech side was abandoned as many Bohemian border towns after 1945 and demolished in 1953. In 2013, the chapel of St. Nepomuk was rebuilt there.
