The giant sequoias that can be found near Huis Verwolde are only young specimens. The first is between the house and the orangery. In addition to this giant sequoia (Sequoiadendron giganteum), four young coastal sequoias (Sequoia sempervirens) are close together, as can be seen in one of the photos. Update: this tree appears to have died in the autumn of 2007.

The second tree is close to Oom Frits, a pedunculate oak planted in 1791 along the "Dikke Boompad". The last two giant sequoias are also young trees, planted at the Jachthuis a few hundred meters east of Uncle Frits. Allard Baron van der Borch van Verwolde lived in the hunting lodge until his death in 2008 because the Huis Verwolde itself had become a bit too big for him and too expensive to maintain. He transferred Huis Verwolde to Stichting Geldersche Kasteelen in 1977.
