Morsumkoog The 765-hectare Koog was named after the parish of Morsum, which disappeared in 1634, and is once protected by a dike that is a good eight kilometers long, in the east of the island of Nordstrand. Thanks to excellent organization and modern construction methods, the roofing of this Kooge in 1866 was the fastest up to that point and lasted only a few months. However, the first cultivation of the fields proved to be extremely difficult. So had u. many old creeks were filled in, the bumps can still be seen today. From Süderhafen there is a wonderful view over the Heverstrom to Eiderstedt and Husum. Since the dyking of the Pohnshalligkooge in 1924, the dyke of the Morsumkooge has only formed the "second dyke line".
