Very old church in Horne, beautifully maintained grounds

Horne Church is located near the town of Hirtshals. The church was built in the mid-Romanesque period and dates from the 11th century. It is made of chopped granite ashlar, a classic example of the Roman period.

The church porch was added to the church in 1630 and is built of stone from the old church tower. In the church porch there is a plaque where you can see the various pastors who worked in the parish after the Reformation.

The original church tower is believed to be from the 1400s, but the tower fell in 1630, so it was decided to reuse the stone from the tower for the porch and burial chamber. Many of the stones were sold to Herregården Odden (manor house). Count Christian Frederik Rantzau rebuilt the tower and you can see the year of construction when you visit the tower. The current church tower dates from 1960 and stands on the well-preserved foundation of the old tower.
The windows of Horne Church date from 1862 and 1866.

There are often services in Horne Church, and various events, activities and concerts several times a year.
