Born in Sourbrodt in 1942 to a Belgian mother and German father, Dieter - Didier - Comès was one of the best-known and better Belgian comics artists who debuted in 1973 with work in the French comics magazine Pilote, where many of the greats of the comics world made their debuts. Comès is best known for "The Shadow of the Raven" and "The village idiot of Schoonvergeten". His native region and the Ardennes always played a role in his comics, which also touch on themes such as war and madness, as well as - how could it be otherwise if you were born here - nature.
