The picturesque town of Veere on the Walcheren peninsula lies directly on the Veerse Meer (Veerse Lake). Visitors are captivated by the many beautiful old houses and a few charming shops, such as the Oma's Snoepwinkel candy store. You can learn more about Veere's history by taking a walk along the city walls. You determine the length of your walk yourself based on the junctions. A round trip should be about 5 kilometers long. From the city walls, you have a beautiful view of the windmill, the town hall, and the church. Along the way, you'll encounter cannons and walk through the "Stone Bear," an exciting, gloomy tunnel with loopholes. The "Stone Bear" dates back to the Napoleonic era. The waters on this hiking trail are crossed by small cable ferries. Be careful not to get your feet wet. Would you like to take a longer hike? Then leave the walls and head towards the Veerse Bos and Veerse Kreken.
