Around 1910, the entire forest around Lake Hubertus was advertised as a settlement area. The garden city of Frohnau was actually supposed to be extended to the lake shore, but the plans were not implemented after the start of the First World War.

The cobblestone streets that were laid out at the beginning can still be discovered in the forest today.

The Berlin Wall Trail is the former border between the GDR and West Berlin.
In total, it is 160 kilometers long and the cycle and hiking trail mostly follows the former customs route from West Berlin or the column route of the former border troops of the GDR.
It's pretty well signposted and there are observation towers along the way and memorial and information boards for those who died in the Wall.
