Are you visiting Eindhoven by public transport? Don't forget to first look back when leaving the station on the center side. You are already standing in front of your first monumental building, the station building. Built in 1956, to a design by architect Koen van der Gaast and a national monument since January 1, 2008.

According to an urban legend, this building was designed after the model of a Philips radio from the 1950s. However, that is impossible, as a similar radio did not exist at that time. It was not until 1960 that Philips introduced the Box15U, for which the station building was the inspiration. The fact that the building does resemble an old-fashioned radio, due to its shape and the adjacent tower with transmission mast, is probably a (nice) coincidence.
