"Moles of Eden"

The Edens corn mill is the oldest and tallest windmill in the province of Groningen.
Built in 1763/1870, the mill was extensively restored in 1985.

In 2006, the mill was raised by 3 m in order to have enough wind for the windmill due to the higher buildings in the area. The impression of 2 entrance gates one above the other is not deceptive.

Stone octagon with wooden structure.

In 1870 the stone octagon was raised. Molen Edens is a gallery hauler (Stellingmolen), Bovenkruier (top turner). Used as a grist mill and today as a grain mill. 2 parallel millstones, sail wings, codend.

The packhouse next to the mill was demolished in 1976. The Edens corn mill is the oldest and tallest windmill in the province of Groningen. In 1985 the mill was extensively restored. In 2006, the mill was raised by 3 m in order to have enough wind for the windmill due to the higher buildings in the area. The impression of 2 entrance gates one above the other is not deceptive. The elevations at the foot of the windmill, while the structure of the wooden octagon has hardly changed, mean that the mill does not appear proportional.
