The Col du Sarenne is an insider tip for all road cyclists who want to build l'Alpe d'Huez in a round trip. It can sometimes happen that it snows in the middle of summer. There is hardly any traffic and you always feel completely alone. Unfortunately, the asphalt is very rough and with 1999 meters he is not one of the greats. Nevertheless, he is worth a visit.

From Lac du Chambon via Mizoen and Clanvans-le-Haut very nice ascent to Col de Sarenne in the green valley, accompanied by babbling brooks. Above the plateau with fantastic views, especially beautiful in the evening light. Even if it is only 1999m: 1000m difference in altitude, straight up between 8 and 10%. The passport doesn't have to hide.

In the shadow of the mighty Alpe Huez, this mountain pass has made a name for itself among cycle tourists for its beauty and toughness. An inhospitable mountain pass, with hardly any traffic and a final hairpin section on its eastern side that is simply spectacular.
When asked whether Alpe Huez or Col de la Sarenne is better, I always give the same answer: climb the passes and decide which one you like best.
A must in the Alps!!
