Borgholzhausen is also affectionately called Pium by the residents, which expresses their connection and love of home with the city. If you walk along the "Pium-Patt" historic half-timbered houses, stately residential and industrial buildings as well as sculptures by local artists line the way. Borgholzhausen stands for relaxation and pure nature.

It is not exactly known where the term "pium" came from. Probably the most plausible explanation is the derivation from the Latin word "pius" with its meaning pious, faithful, righteous. Since the first proven church building (already at the location) of today's Ev. It is understandable that the church dates back to the 8th century AD and that there were an unusually large number of places of worship and chapels in and around Borgholzhausen. The city's nickname is still popular today and is also used in city marketing.
