Nicknamed "Aunt Yvonne", she became the wife of Charles de Gaulle on April 6 and 7, 1921 in the church of Notre-Dame de Calais. This Calaisienne was a beloved figure throughout France.
It is at the foot of the watchtower that this bronze statue scale 1.5 is located. Under the direction of the sculptor Nantaise Elisabeth Cibot, the latter had already realized a statue of the general in 2006 on the site of the town hall of Drancy in Seine-Saint-Denis.
