The Herbeder Schleuse is a lock at the Herbeder Schlagd on the Ruhr.

The lock was built on this river from 1776 to 1778 at the behest of King Frederick II (as one of 16 locks in total). The weir, called Herbeder Ruhrschlagd, could be bypassed with it. The Herbeder mill ditch that branched off supplied the Herbeder mill and was later decisive for the construction of the Friedrich Lohmann steel factory.

The lock was destroyed in 1943 by the tidal wave of the Möhnesee bombing. It was rebuilt between 1981 and 1983 so that the MS Schwalbe II could operate between Lake Kemnader and Witten-Bommern.

The Herbeder Schleuse is a lock at the Herbeder Schlagd on the Ruhr in the Witten district of Heven, Ennepe-Ruhr district. The lock was built on this river from 1776 to 1778 at the behest of King Frederick II (as one of a total of 16). This meant that the weir, called Herbeder Ruhrschlagd, could be bypassed. The branching Herbeder Mühlengraben supplied the Herbeder mill and was later crucial for the construction of the Friedrich Lohmann steel factory. From 1801 onwards, shipping on the Ruhr above Witten was stopped because goods traffic had decreased and the lock had suffered from flooding and ice. A new lock was built in 1811 and was renovated in the 1830s. In 1890 shipping traffic came to a standstill again. The wooden lock fell into disrepair and was destroyed by the tidal wave of the Möhnesee bombing in 1943. It was rebuilt between 1981 and 1983 so that the MS Schwalbe II could operate between Lake Kemnader and Witten-Bommern.
