Housed in a grand neoclassical building known as the Ospedale degli Infermi, the Museo Delta Antico is located in the heart of Comacchio and welcomes thousands of visitors every year
from Italy and abroad. One of the most important archaeological museums in the Upper Adriatic, which through its collection of over two thousand finds tells the story and evolution of the ancient Po Delta. Called Eridanos by the Greeks and Padus by the Romans, the great river has shaped this territory for centuries and made it a fundamental hub for traffic and trade between East and West, up to the gates of Europe.
Entirely bilingual (Italian-English), it hosts a series of itineraries attentive to every need with a view to ever greater inclusiveness. Multimedia devices, immersive videos, olfactory installations and tactile itineraries complete the visual story offered by the finds, transforming the visit to the Museo Delta Antico into a true multisensory experience. The museum is divided into four main thematic and chronological sections:
